While Singapore is no more than a transit stop for many travellers. Those who decide to spend a day or two roaming the streets of Singapore usually wind up pleasantly surprised at how amazing this compact country really is.
If you have a few days to spare on your travels, put it on the list! ..And be sure check out these 7 things while you’re there.
#1 – Marina Bay Sands
Ok, so it’s a little expensive. During a 24 hour visa run from Bali, myself and my better half Intrepid Introvert decided to spend the entire time living like the rich and famous, swimming in an infinity pool, which is in a ship that sits 55 stories above the ground on top of three high rise buildings… NO JOKE.
The room set us back $808.01 NZD for one night.
You can not use the swimming pool unless you stay in the hotel. (which I think is a great idea.. keeps it exclusive)
After a night there, you will definitely leave with a sense of success and wealth… Or an empty wallet.
If you cant swing the cash to stay, I understand. Though there is also access to the top front end of the ship on a viewing platform. (warning: drinks are expensive)
#2 Gardens By The Bay
Feel like you’re in Avatar for real! Take a look at the Gardens by the Bay at night when they do the light show. It a truly EPIC scene that seems out of this world.
Walk around the bay and get a selfie with the Merlion along the way. Yeah, it’s like a mermaid, but a lion.
And everyone gets selfies with it.. Go on, you know you want to!
#4 Singapore Flyer
Like the London Eye, only bigger. I heard the Singapore Flyer trumps the London Eye by less than a meter to be the biggest in the world.
It’s cool, do it… Wait for a little and you can get a pod to yourself!
#5 China Town Heritage
Especially if you are making your way home and want to stock up on little pointless toys and gifts for children, then take a look through China Town. Its very cool with a lot to explore in, out and around the temples.
#6 Wave Park – Sentosa Island
Yeah, you heard right! Once you’re over all of the touristy stuff and walking around.. Head to Sentosa Island on a train (it’s easy), and there you will find a full-blown wave park! There are many other activities, but the wave pool is by far the best. Well, I think so anyway.
Lucky #7 1-Altitude Rooftop Bar
Wash it all down with a Singapore Sling (Singapore Cocktail) on the rooftop bar called 1-Altitude. This provides an amazing view of the entire city and a great place to round up your Singapore adventure!
See.. Singapore is much more than just a transit lounge. In fact, it’s one of my favourite countries around the world!
